“……………Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. …………I am alive forevermore. …….Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.” Rev1:17-19

The book of Revelation is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants the events that must soon take place. And He sent an angel to present this revelation to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ. The above verses reveal who Jesus Christ is.

Apostle John in Rev1:17 explains how the divinity of Jesus Christ impacted his life.  The verse says that when he saw the vision of Jesus Christ, he fell at His feet as dead.  Jesus Christ laid His right hand on Apostle John and said not to fear.  The fear John felt here is the reverence he had for God.

Rev1:17 ‘…..I am the First and the Last.”

Jesus Christ reveals Himself in this verse.  He is the First and the Last i.e. the Eternal One.  He is the Alpha and Omega. Rev1:8  “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” When Jesus Christ revealed this to Apostle John, he understood the following:

Gen21:33 “……..and they called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.”

HE is the Eternal God, the God on whom you can depend on and trust anytime and forever.

Eph1:10 “that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times HE might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.”

God does not make changes according to the situation but HE knows the end from the beginning.  Even the crucifixion of Jesus Christ was determined before this world was established as revealed in Rev13:8 “All who dwell on the earth will worship Him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” God planned the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ from the beginning because HE knew the angels would sin which would result in the destruction of the world.  It is God’s deep desire that man lead his life with God.  Even before God created this world, HE knew man would sin.  Hence from Rev2 to Rev22 Jesus Christ reveals to Apostle John that because He is the eternal God, He is able to conduct everything according to His will and bring to completion everything that is written in the Bible.

As said in Philipp 1:6 “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”, our heavenly Father has a purpose for you. God is faithful to work in you and bring to completion the good work HE began in you until HIS Son Jesus Christ is revealed through you. God transforms a person not only to reveal him as a repentant man but God desires to transform us until Jesus Christ is revealed through us. God who began the good work in you will complete HIS purpose for you. You need to speak to yourself in faith and say you are not a failure and that no evil can hinder God’s plan for you because our heavenly Father will bring HIS plans for you to perfect completion.

God encouraged Zerubbabel in Hag 2:4 “But now be strong, O Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord. ‘Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work. For I am with you,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” and in Zec 4:6   “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.

Therefore, if God has begun HIS good work in you, HE will complete it perfectly.  Believe that the God who transformed you and began the good work will complete it and will not make you a failure before the world because God brings into being by His Holy Spirit. It is not by your might but by God.  Psalms 18:29 “For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall.” We need to have the faith of Abraham and Sarah that we will see HIS good works. Ps 118:17 “I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the Lord.” HIS word will become flesh in your life.

Rev1:18 “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore…”

Jesus Christ said He is alive forevermore because Apostle John had seen His death.  But Jesus Christ lives now and is alive forevermore. Because He lives now He holds the keys of Hades and Death. Hence, for His saints, death is a promotion and not a state of fear. During our time alone with God, we enjoy fellowship with HIM. Our eternal life with God too is a time of fellowship with HIM forever, which we wait for and need to look forward to.  Rev20:11-14 explains Jesus Christ has resurrected with authority over Hades and Death. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the eternal God, alive forevermore.

We need to desire for God to reveal HIS authority over our lives.  HIS hands are not shortened and are still stretched forth to deliver you. The christian life is a life of experience. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and He will not leave you mid-way but will complete His good work that He began in you.

Matt6:26 “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them.”  Therefore surrender yourself to God and depend on His Holy Spirit.

Ps34:8 “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;”
