When desires has conceived it gives birth to sin
James 1:15 – “Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”.
V.14 – “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed”.
James explains the above verse that temptation to sin always comes from within ourselves. Its not God’s fault. Whatever the situation, the desire to sin is still ours. We are tempting ourselves to sin.
God does not tempt us, but He tests us to increase our faith, to make us strong to overcome all situations and to trust Him more in our life. He wants to make us victorious as He is victorious. James warns us of the consequences of our desire which makes us fall into sin. Sin comes into our heart when we say yes to the desire to do what we want, instead of asking God and not trusting or obeying Him. We allow sin to grow in us, which leads to death.
Sin always leads to death for those who are not in Christ and have not accepted God’s free gift of forgiveness of sin. They have not been born again to a new life and their death is permanent and eternal. Even if we are born again and separated for God, sin will come inside us through our desire. If we yield to our desires it will bring forth deadly consequences.
James 5:19-20 – states that it is our responsibility to turn a sinner from his life to God’s way in order to save his soul from death. We have to trust God and seek wisdom from God to get the “Crown of life” which God has promised to us. We have to thank God for all His promises and His blessings in our life.. The Word of God leads us to the right direction and eventually changes our desire as per God’s way.
In Job 15:35 it is written “They conceive trouble and bring forth futility, their womb prepared deceit”. Job’s friend Eliphaz blamed Job for all kinds of sin like bribery, unprofitable talks etc..What we conceive in our heart will proceed from our mouth.
David talks about his enemies and seeks God for judgment against them in Psalm 7:14 “Behold, the wicked bring forth iniquity, yes he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood”. Anyone looking for trouble, injustice or seeking selfish, ungodly things in their lives are led to more lies and evil.
It is our choice to think or conceive evil or good. If we conceive good, goodness will be reflected through us.
Isaiah 33:11 says “You shall conceive chaff, you shall bring forth stubble, your breath, as fire, shall devour you”. This confirms that if we conceive bad or unworthy desires (chaff), we cannot produce good fruit. We speak whatever is in our heart.
Isaiah 59:4 – “They trust in empty words and speak lies, they conceive evil and bring forth iniquity” Here Isaiah talks about the Israelites who were separated from God because of their iniquities. They trust in empty words and do evil things and speak lies.
In Isaiah 59:9 & 13 we see that they were waiting for justice and salvation but were convinced of falsehood in their hearts. Therefore, they confessed their sins that they were against God and departed from Him.
Now the justification of a sinner is by the righteousness of Jesus Christ alone through faith. We have to live in Christ, in His light of divine truth in order to harvest godly character in our life and live in peace. Do not allow satan to sow evil desires in our heart through what we see and hear in the world. We reap what we sow (Galatians:6:7). Sow God’s word, the seed of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control in our hearts (Galatians 5:22).
