God’s Unknown Protection

The eternal  God is a dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms; And He drove out the enemy from before you, And said, ‘Destroy!’ Deut 33:27

It was a head on collision and Alan was immediately rushed to the hospital. Those who saw the vehicle said the driver would not have survived. Except for a slight bruise from a tiny glass piece of the windshield, Alan was perfectly fine and saved from the worst.

Leya was stepping out of the bathtub when she slipped and at that split second of fear and panic she could not hold onto anything. As she fell back helplessly she immediately saw herself suspended and realized she dint hit the floor of the tub. Astonished, Leya held the side of the tub and lifted herself up.

Accidents like the above or mishaps seem common and heard of in various facts. But what seems a narrow escape for the world is God’s protection for us who know and believe in God’s continuous presence with us. We have no breath without God. In fact, we have absolutely nothing or nobody we see before our eyes without God. These are times when we remember God’s promise that He will not leave us nor forsake us. His promise calms our heart and drives away every fear the evil tries to bring on us.

Ps 91:4 says “He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” The Lord’s protection here is compared to that a mother eagle gives her chicks. Similarly, the Lord covers us with His wings. When we look into our past, there are innumerable things God protected us from which we know nothing about. A slight slip of our balance on the stairs or while standing or at any work or posture could have made our lives disastrous. Just as we hold a baby in our arms we are held up every moment in the everlasting arms of our God. His arms are beneath us which means even if we are standing, we are in His arms. His protection over us is out of His love for us. We need to have faith and trust entirely on God’s promises because 2Tim3:16 says every word in the Bible is God’s breath and is living. It will take the right effect upon us to proclaim His righteousness and glorify His name.

There are times when we feel alone or weak when we face different challenges in our lives and are desperate for God’s help and provision. The preceding verse (Deut33:26) says that God rides through the heaven to help us, through the skies in His majesty. By His sovereign power God commands destruction over our enemy. The enemy here is anything that destroys our peace. God’s presence gives us hope, makes us secure and we feel a peaceful rest from any anxiety. There is none like our living God.

His purpose for each of us is to enjoy eternity with Him and to share the good news of His salvation to those around us. We are saved by His grace through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. We have been restored to God through Jesus Christ and God protects us so we obey and fulfill His command to spread the good news of His salvation.

Therefore, when we desire to make this eternal God our dwelling place by worshiping Him and obeying His will for us, He will be our shelter, shield and refuge. His everlasting arms will uphold us.

Ps 71:15 “My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And of Your [deeds of] salvation all day long, For their number is more than I know.”
