The LORD has been mindful of us
Each new day begins with our daily routines. The morning rush hours is a time we all go through either to be punctual to office or school or preparing and making everything easy for them to be punctual. Family prayer falls in the routine yet there are days when we have to rush with that also.
I’m reminded here of the incident when my Dad was on his way to our farm which is located almost three hours from the city. He usually stops on the way for tea and on that day as he alighted the jeep, Dad realised he couldn’t feel his left foot touch the ground. It was brushed off as slight numbness due to the long drive. An hour later on reaching the farm the workers noticed that his face had slightly slanted but Dad kept insisting that he was fine as he could walk (albeit with a limp) and would be better after a shower and nap. It just got worse and upon the rest of our insistence Dad was immediately rushed all the way back to a hospital in the city.. He had a stroke and was almost eights hours late for treatment. It was purely God’s mercy and protection that Dad could resume normal activity within a month’s rest.
The above verse in Psalms 115:12 declares that God is mindful of us (remembers us). Every morning begins with a prayer and submission of our loved ones and everything into God’s hands.
We are content with our prayers and confident that God has heard them. But we are caught off guard during such incidents and left without an answer as to why did it happen despite our prayers and relationship with God. After we experience God’s deliverance we realise that God was with us all throughout. He understands our ignorance of the outcome of a situation and holds us within His arms during our helplessness. He arranges the right people for our needs. We experience His deliverance at the right time. God sees ahead of us and accordingly ensures that we are protected from any harm. His presence is veiled but there comes an answering voice which shows that He is in the shadow keeping watch over His own.
Why would God be mindful of us? Because only God cares for us. The very fact that we breathe pure air is because He knows what we are made of. In Zach2:8 God says we are the apple of His eyes. Ps139:2 says ‘You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.’ 2Kings19:27 states “But I know you well— where you stay and when you come and go..’ Prov 15:3 says ‘The eyes of the LORD are in every place…’. All these and through more verses in the Bible it reveals that God has promised His awesome presence with us at every moment of our life. Even if God was not in our thoughts at any specific moment He keeps His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us. God hears our inner groans which are inaudible to those around us and feels our pain because He created us and remembers what we are. It was God’s everlasting love to save us that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to redeem us from
the clutches of the evil.
Therefore God is mindful of us because HE remembers HIS covenant with Abraham; the word which HE commanded for a thousand generations (Psalms 105:8).
